Description The full story Horace of the Far Sphere – Owlkin Ranger Horace is among the omnipotent order of the Sentinels of the Planes, warriors from across the many planes dedicated to their preservation and sanctity. No greater threat befalls them than the world-eating blight of Eldraeth, a fungal plague that has swallowed many worlds over the aeons. This same blight swallowed Horace’s world centuries ago, with the Owlkin being one of the few survivors of his now-defiled homeland. Since then, he has dedicated his own life to preventing Eldraeth’s spread across the planes, so that no other worlds may befall the same fate as his. Now, the fungus has crept up in a new plane, Minera. Though relatively young, the world teems with life, a ripe breeding ground for the Eldraeth, which has travelled through a supple servant from another world, binding its will to his mind and body. Vaezirak is now worshipped as a divine by some of the locals within the continent of Tharador’s subterranean expanses, and seeing this, Horace has been forced to intervene. The form he has taken is that of an Owlkin, something still exotic to the locals, but not so alien they would flee at the sight of him. He must now instruct and aid the resistance against Vaezirak whilst keeping his identity as a far traveller from worlds beyond as a secret. His intervention is aimed as a far-off traveller from across the sea who has dealt with the evil of Eldraeth before, thus framing his knowledge of the ailment in a matter that won’t disrupt the primitive knowledge of the young world’s populace. He can only hope that those bound by the Eldraeth’s will are not quick to waggle their tongues about the nature of the planes beyond. Lest it may make his job after all the more tiring. For now, he has latched himself to a group travelling through the swamps of Lo Fuin, bound for the underground Drow city of Hirika, where the resistance to Eldraeth is at its fiercest.
