Description The full story The Ordained – Face of House Glydrin In the society of the Glanbelite Drow, crimes worthy of execution or exile can, on rare occasion, be annulled in a final bid of penance. This penance takes form in becoming an Ordained: a member of a noble house whose life is forfeited to their will, usually in the form of a warrior bound for death. Service to the house as an Ordained is not relinquished until death, and each noble house may only hold one Ordained in service at a time. Some Glanbelite Drow see the Ordained in reverence: a final act of penance and redemption in service to their people before their end. Others see it as a position of humiliation; a farce instilled by the elite to bend the commoners to their will to extreme measures until the accused perishes. When Ordained, the name of the prisoner is stripped from them, and not even the noble house that takes them is aware of it, or their crime. Their face is obscured by a golden visage helmet, and any shreds of their former identity dies when it is placed on their head. Removing the helmet in the presence of others is a penalty worthy of death, thus the Ordained are forced to take their meals and drinks in solitude. The name of the current Ordained of House Glydrin is unknown to all but the warrior themself. Their crime was executing an Irinaxi prisoner; an unarmed civilian who refused to talk, but was otherwise harmless. The sentence for their crime: death. Fate would have other plans, as the day before their execution, the previous Ordained of Glydrin perished in battle, and the prisoner was picked out as their replacement. Donning their armour and gilded mask, the crimes of their past weighed as heavy as their metal helm, yet their years of service in the Glanbelite military would prove to be the winning grace that earned them their favour as the new Ordained. So far, the missions they have endeavoured on have not granted them release from House Glydrin’s service, yet the latest task that befalls them may very well do so. Against the latest zealots of Irinax, The Ordained is sent, accompanying a small ragtag team fighting against the interlopers, who are armed with a deadly fungal plague. Only a few can stand against them, using wit over numbers to best their foes, for any who contract the plague and bring it back to Hirika or other Glanbelite settlements will be ensuring the victory of the Irinaxi Drow.
