Description The full story Deimos the Dreadmaker – Cyclops Marauder A cyclops captured as a juvenile by Baldur’s Scientists, as another stepping stone in their pursuit of knowledge through the clandestine Project Glass Ceiling. Designated EX77A, the purpose of this Cylcops’ capture was to study apparent intellect in the wild semi-sapient fauna that wandered Tharador’s wilderness. Whether cognizance could be instilled in something as unhinged and rancid as a Cyclops, or if it would return to its instinctual rage and savagery. Initial tests used alchemy in attempts to stabilize the creature’s moods, and enforce it to adhere to tutelage attempts by the staff present at the blacksite which held the creature. Whilst it initially proved receptive to its tutelage, and indeed was able to develop a full vocabulary equivalent to a human juvenile of a similar development period, all progress was seemingly turned back at the onset of adolescence in the creature. Sedatives no longer held an effect on the creature’s attention span or will to learn, and the only doses that seemed to affect it at all completely tranquilized EX77A instead. Despite the setbacks, the scientists pushed on, hypothesising that the onset of adulthood has triggered a need for violence and bloodshed that was previously not present. Thus the experiment shifted focus to raising the creature as a soldier, giving him deathrow convicts to face in battle and subjecting him to similar training regimes that are seen in Baldur’s military branches. EX77A became a worthy soldier in this time, capable of following instructions and orders, while having an extremely intimidating form that would shatter the morale of most foes. Unfortunately for Baldur’s military, however, no field tests could be done before the experiment’s abrupt end during the Lumens Rebellion six months prior. With the black site raided and destroyed by rebel operatives, EX77A was freed, uncovering that his life was wholly a lie. After being told of the atrocities committed by the Baldurian Crown, the same who captured and imprisoned him, EX77A was abhorred. He thereafter chose to dedicate his strength to hindering Baldur’s war effort against the rebels, taking the name Deimos, a name he invoked with dread as he brought death upon loyalist forces and supply caravans. Though his wanton destruction of carriages on the roadside has painted a target on his back, many curious scholars seek to capture Deimos, unaware of his importance, or history.
